Letter from the ED – Coronavirus Update

To everyone in our Takodah YMCA family, we are thinking of you in these uncertain times. I wanted to reach out and let you know we’re here for you, and we are grateful to stay connected through technology.

Right now, children all over the world are staying home, and giving up what every child deserves: time to learn, grow, and be with friends. Staying home from school, sports, and more is a sacrifice that is truly Friendly to All, and we’re grateful for all those focused on the greater good.

This stressful time will end, and we remain optimistic about this year.

We are still working hard on planning to provide children with what will surely be a much-needed, fun-filled summer camp experience. The health and safety of our campers and staff will always remain our highest priority. We have an excellent working relationship with our Department of Health and Human Services, the YMCA of the USA, and our accrediting agency, the American Camp Association.

This summer, children will need Takodah more than ever.

The Takodah YMCA remains one of the few places where kids can just be kids. They have fun, make their own choices, explore the world around them, and learn skills to strengthen their confidence and their character. I know many of you have concerns and hardships of your own, and we are so humbled by our donors who support us during times like this despite such challenges. Thank you. This is why supporting opportunities at Takodah is so much more than just sending a kid to camp, it’s investing in a better future for us all — and all of our board members and year-round team are so very grateful.

All my best,

Artie Lang
