Arrival and Departure

Transportation & Airport Runs

Parents are responsible for providing transportation to/from Camp Takodah for their campers at their own expense. If your child is flying to camp, we can provide transportation for them from the Boston Logan International Airport ($100 round-trip) during the following time-frames only:

  • Opening Days: 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Closing Days: 2:00 – 6:00 PM

If you prefer to send your camper outside of these time-frames, you’re responsible for securing your own transportation to Camp Takodah. Please contact the Camp Office at least three weeks before your session to arrange transportation and pay the transportation fees.

Opening Day Procedures

We will continue to offer airport runs to/from Boston Logan Airport on Opening and Closing Days (all the same pre-arrival guidelines apply).

You will receive a scheduled drop-off time (30-minute window) to limit the number of people in camp at one time.

You will receive your cabin number 24 hours before your session begins. Your cabin number will determine your 30-minute check-in window. Odd-numbered cabins will arrive at 1:00 PM, and even-numbered cabins will arrive at 2:00 PM. Families with campers in both odd- and even-numbered cabins will arrive at 1:00 PM.

Each camper may only have one parent/guardian with them for drop-off to limit the number of people in camp at one time.

Everyone will be required to practice face-masking social distancing while on camp premises.

Everyone will receive screening questions and temperature checks upon arrival — and anyone who is symptomatic or exposed will be refused entry to Takodah.

You will be able to drop off your camper at the front door of their cabin with all of their personal belongings. After meeting their cabin leaders, you will be required to depart the cabin immediately. Cabin Leaders will help campers move into their cabins, make their beds, store their personal belongings, and start making friends.

After leaving your camper at their cabin, you may go to the Dining Hall Terrace if you need to submit any medications.

If you bring mail or packages to be delivered to your camper during their session, then you may drop them off in the flagpole area next to the Camp Office. Please be sure to write your camper’s name, cabin number, and delivery date on each envelope or package.

You will not be able to pay camp fees at the Camp Office. You will need to make your final payment before receiving your cabin number. Please make your final payment no later than May 15 via your Camp Brain account or by contacting Linda DuBois, our Office Manager, at linda@takodahymca.org or 603-352-0447.

You will also not be able to shop at the Camp Store or make Camp Store deposits during drop-off. Please add money to your Camp Store account via your Camp Brain account or by contacting Linda DuBois, our Office Manager, at linda@takodahymca.org or 603-352-0447.

After dropping off your camper at their cabin, submitting any medications to the Dining Hall Terrace, and dropping off any mail/packages at the flagpole area next to the Camp Office, then you will be required to leave camp right away. Unfortunately, you will not be able to wander around camp during drop-off this year.

Closing Day Procedures

Your cabin number will determine your 30-minute pick-up window. Odd-numbered cabins will arrive at 6:00 PM, and even-numbered cabins will arrive at 7:00 PM. Families with campers in both odd- and even-numbered cabins will arrive at 6:00 PM.

Each camper may only have one parent/guardian with them for pick-up to limit the number of people in camp at one time.

Everyone will be required to practice face-masking social distancing while on camp premises.

If you are symptomatic or exposed, you are prohibited from coming to camp — and you must designate another adult for pick-up.

You will be able to pick up your camper and retrieve their personal items at their cabin.

You will also be able to pick up their medications and pre-register for next summer in their division (group of 6-7 cabins).

You will also be able to search our lost and found for any missing items. South Camp lost and found will be at the A-Field basketball courts. North Camp lost and found will be on deck at the North Camp Performing Arts Center (NOPAC).

The Camp Office and Camp Store will be closed during pick-up.

After picking up your camper at their cabin, retrieving their medications in their division, pre-registering them for next summer in their division, and visiting lost and found, then you will be required to leave camp right away. Unfortunately, you will not be able to wander around camp during pick-up this year.

Kona Truck

Unfortunately, we will not be able to have a Kona Snow Cone and Ice Cream truck on Opening Days this year because of the new COVID safety guidelines. Please make sure your camper eats lunch before arriving at camp, as their first meal will be dinner that day.

Police Notification

Local officials have prohibited line-ups on Fitzwilliam Road/119 and the camp lane for public safety reasons. Plan your trip so that you arrive in Richmond no earlier than your scheduled 30-minute drop-off and pick-up times. You’re not able to exit your car until your scheduled 30-minute check-in time, and so there’s no reason to arrive early — and arriving early will create a less safe environment by hindering our efforts to minimize the number of people in camp at one time.
