Boost Takodah – Fall 2018

Emma was shy and slow to make friends. From the moment she arrived at Takodah, she mostly watched her cabin mates from the sidelines in hopes of going unnoticed. It was a rough school year for Emma, and it had taken a toll on her confidence.

Everything changed when Emma discovered canoeing. She was a natural, and her confidence grew as she mastered each stroke. She didn’t give up until she earned the Paddle Mania Challenge, awarded for expertise in canoeing, and she beamed with pride when she told her cabin mates about the accomplishment. For the first time in a long time, Emma felt like she could be herself, and her cabin mates loved her for it.

If you’re like many Takodians, the waterfront is your favorite place at camp. It’s also a place where campers like Emma develop enduring friendships, teamwork, skills, confidence, and character.

You now have the opportunity to help keep these experiences alive. After decades of use, the time has come to retire and replace camp’s canoes, kayaks, and paddle-boards. With a price tag of $37,500, your support is critical to making it happen. This is your chance to give back some of what Takodah has given you.

In our morning prayer, Takodians say, “Keep me ready to help others at some cost to myself. Send me chances to do a little good each day. And so grow.” Are you ready to help and do a little good?

Please consider joining many of your camp friends who give automatic donations each month to keep the camp you love strong. As a sustaining supporter, you can give as little as $5 or $10 per month via credit card or PayPal. All it takes is a couple of minutes and a credit card.

Please consider making as generous a gift as you can. Every dollar makes a difference.

In Takodah spirit,

Ryan Reed

Camp Director

PS – Emma’s mom said she came home from Takodah a new person. She explained that Emma returned to school more confident, social, and happy—and she credits Takodah with Emma’s turnaround. Donate now to make sure Takodah can continue to help campers like Emma.
