We save the last week of our summer for Takodah’s Family Camp. Families come to Takodah from all over the world for a relaxed atmosphere that allows them to get back to what’s important – enjoying time together in the great outdoors without the distractions and pressures of our hectic working lives. Takodah’s Family Camp offers fun, fellowship, a flexible schedule, great program options, warm staff, and a tasty menu.

ImageAt Family Camp, our staff are careful to organize events to appeal to all age groups, and as inter-family friendships grow over the course of the week, the families themselves often take the lead in offering programming options. Trips to Mount Monadnock, local hikes, swims around Cass Pond, the DeWitt Memorial Golf Tournament, archery, basketball, the staff vs. campers softball game, and rock climbing are recent favorite activities.

The beauty of the Family Camp schedule is that it is flexible. There’s a lot of time for relaxing. Yet we expect that parents with school-age children in attendance will help provide basic leadership, planning, or organization for various child-centered family offerings throughout the week. Families with an interest in paper planes, Frisbee golf, or hunting for frogs need only make a Dining Hall announcement to gather an impromptu playgroup – it’s that easy. Some of our best times at family camp aren’t planned, they’re the simple conversations over Dinner, the impromptu board game, or the first time making S’mores as a family over the evening campfire.

There are also a fair number of activities sponsored just for adults. Our waterfront is available for dropping in at least four and a half hours each day – some each day is reserved just for grownups. You’ll find similar times set aside for Arts & Crafts and other camp events.
