Activities: Our program offers opportunities for campers to choose from a huge range of activities. Just about any activity you’d expect to see at a summer camp is here, from American Red Cross swimming lessons to tennis classes, from a high ropes course with a brand-new climbing tower to archery or sailing lessons. Campers choose from a full range of sports, aquatics, nature & outdoor living skills, performing arts, arts & crafts, and “just for fun” classes, signing up for six weeklong clinics over the course of their stay at camp. Each afternoon, campers have an hour and a half of elective “free time,” where they choose activities they’d like to sample or revisit from a morning class. On hot days, this period give campers a chance to swim or sail with a buddy, or start a game or pursuit of their own.

The core of any Takodah experience is the Cabin Group. Our campers live together in Cabins with eight or nine other girls or boys, sharing meals, living space, and a specially-designed Cabin Activity period every day. In working together to get the best cabin inspection marks, having fun as a cabin, and learning to live with similarities and differences, our campers move through a teambuilding process that can see big results in fostering independence and self-confidence.
